2021 High School Girls Mid-Season Standouts

With the high school basketball season finally rolling in Colorado and state playoffs beginning in Utah, we want to take a moment and highlight some outstanding performers from our girl’s Premier Colorado Basketball Club and Utah Basketball Club this high school season. With Premier spring and summer club season tryouts just around the corner, many of the below sophomores and juniors look like they are in top form.

Gracie Gallegos, Mullen (CO) – The 6’1 2022 G has came into her own this season and has been absolutely dominant on both the offensive and defensive ends, leading the 2 time defending 4a state champion, Mullen Mustangs, with 15+ ppg, shooting the 3 with depth and ease and at times looks like she can get to the rim whenever she wants.  This huge stock riser is the current favorite to win 4a POY and is poised to become a serious Power 5 prospect in the Nike Girls EYBL this spring and summer.

Maggie Mendelson, Fremont (UT) – The 6’6 2023 has lived up to her top 25 national billing, leading the #1 ranked 22-0 Fremont Wolves in rebounding and placing second in scoring behind CO Premier EYBL standout, Emma Calvert.  Active and athletic, Mendelson runs the floor better than any post in the nation and is now a consistent three point threat.

Sam Jones, Regis Jesuit (CO) – This 6′ 2021 forward has done it all for Regis Jesuit this season, shooting the three and finishing in the paint, leads Regis with a 15.2 ppg average and is second on the team in rebounds. Many D1 schools are going to be disappointed if they do not get to recruiting her now!

Kailey Woolston, Lone Peak (UT) –  This 5’10 point guard has firmly established herself as one of the top point guards and shooters on the west coast, averaging 19.2 ppg while leading Lone Peak to a 16-3 record going into playoffs. A deep three point shooter, Woolston can also attack the paint and make plays at the rim.

Lauren Betts, Addison O’Grady and Marya Hudgins, Grandview (CO) – Grandview’s BIG 3 have been outstanding this year, combining for nearly 52 ppg and making up nearly 70% of their offense.  They are a big reason why Grandview is ranked in the top 15 in the nation.  Lauren Betts (2022) has been outstanding in the paint and has expanded her range, O’Grady (2021) has done it all, and Hudgins (2022) is most likely the most versatile player in the state.

Teya Sidberry, Judge Memorial (UT) – The 6′ 2022 forward has been an absolute stat filler this season, leading the state in scoring at 32 ppg and averaging 13.4 rebounds and 5.3 steals per game.  Sidberry nearly broke the state scoring record this season, scoring 52 points in a game, just 2 shy of former Premier Nike Girls EYBL standout and current Florida Gator Lavendar Briggs.  Look for Sidberry to continue to climb the national rankings and solidify herself as one of the top forwards in the nation.

Kenlee Durrill, Flatirons Academy (CO) – This 5’10 point guard is ready to hit the national circuit this summer! This creative point guard is leading her team in scoring at 16.1 ppg and nearly 5 assists per game as they look to compete for a state championship.  Durrill shoots it, gets into the paint and plays with poise. This will be a breakout spring and summer for this one.

Emma Calvert, Fremont (UT) – This BYU commit is wrapping up an outstanding high school career trying to lead the Fremont Wolves to their 2nd state championship during her tenure.  Calvert just broke the school’s all time scoring record and leads an outstanding team in scoring at 15+ ppg and is second in rebounding at nearly a 7 rpg clip.  Look for her to compete for state player of the year with fellow CO Premier EYBL teammates Teya Sidberry, Maggie Mendelson and Kailey Woolston.

Jayda Maves, Green Mountain (CO) – This athletic 2023 sharpshooter looks healthy, aggressive and back!  Maves is leading her Green Mountain team in scoring at a 18+ ppg clip while they look to compete for a 4a championship this season.

Haley Huard, Valor Christian (CO) – The 6’1 2021 Montana commit has been an outstanding addition to an already strong Valor Christian roster.  Huard is one of the most versatile players in the state with her length, ability to shoot the ball and finish at the rim and should get an All-State nod while Valor looks to get back to the final four in 2021.

Be on the lookout for our boys standout list next!
